There are not many people who can say that they love what they do. I am extremely lucky to be able to say that "I do." I didnt set out initally to be a wedding photographer but on reflection, in many respects, it was pre-destined.
As all good brides do, my mum was flicking through magazines looking for bridesmaids dresses and came across a fabulous 60’s chick with the bee-hive hairdo, thick eye-liner – you get the picture.
The design house was called Sharene. She kept it and gave it to me to show me where she chose my name from. (It’s in none of the name books, believe me I’ve looked).
When I was little I used to watch and tried to help rather unsuccessfully, my Nanna, make artificial roses from ribbon for bridal bouquets. She was incredibly clever and could paint. Despite her best efforts, I couldn’t draw to save my-self and it was not until much later I discovered my medium wasn’t pen and paper but photography.
To date, I have a Diploma in Business Studies, Certificate of Attainment in Photojournalism (with Commendation), NZIPP Professional Photography Awards and Kodak Gold Awards. I also am very proud to have earned my Associateship with NZIPP ( New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers)
Over the years, being involved in many aspects of the photographic and wedding industry, has made me more than just the photographer I am today.
Being an artist, using a camera and lens to capture moments in a narrative or story, filled will passion and emotion, is a precious and significant task.
A task, I am very priviledged to be asked to do.
